Rakuten AI Optimism vol.3

Oct 8
3 min read

It was just as hot as the first day of Rakuten AI Optimism, but in the afternoon I traveled from central Tokyo to Yokohama by train and then walked briskly.

I attended this event because I thought, "I absolutely have to see this!" when I heard that the CMO would be speaking on the topic of marketing!

About Rakuten Group's Triple 20

Rakuten Group's "Triple 20" initiative involves the use of AI.

"Marketing efficiency"

"Operational efficiency"

"Client (store) efficiency"

This is a management goal and project set by the company to improve each of these three areas by 20%. It seems that CEO Hiroshi Mikitani officially launched this project at the 2024 New Year's Conference and is already seeing results.

This is the video I mentioned in my previous article.

I think that's amazing.

As expected from one of Japan's leading IT companies!

Marketing and Operations

Feeling a sense of urgency to improve the popularity of our website, we gained a wealth of knowledge and insights into the world of digital marketing through WEBMARKS.

In the latter half of the lecture at WEBMARKS, President Suzuki gave a truly passionate lecture on the AI agent project he is working on.

President Suzuki explained that he uses Claude Code to run dozens of agents, automating not only marketing but also virtually all aspects of the company's operations, including accounting, legal affairs, sales, and website development.

It seems that many IT-related vocational schools are now teaching about AI agents, but I liked WEBMARKS because President Suzuki's passionate lectures made him feel very close to the students.

Marketing is fascinating, isn't it?

I felt that the real thrill came from the joy of seeing your plan succeed and your popularity soar.

I think it's such an important field that some people consider it to be the very essence of business management.

About Multinational FDE (Forward Deployed Engineer)

That's how I felt, and that's why I've been calling myself a Multinational Marketing Engineer,

Considering the synergy with my current position (a role in the operations field, primarily for corporate clients at a financial institution), I have come to strongly desire to pursue a career as an FDE (Forward Deployed Engineer, an engineer who works on the front lines, handling everything from problem identification to implementation and stabilization using our company's products and AI technology) in the operations field.

I feel that "Multinational" is an integral part of my personality, and I have no intention of abandoning it.

I enjoyed marketing, but there was a moment during a casual meeting with a senior colleague when I thought, "Wow, this person... they understand me."

I've come to strongly feel once again that I want to work as an FDE in the operations field at this financial institution.

I'm still on the ground, and I'm aware of the hardships I've endured over the past 28 years, so I know what it's like.

I've come to genuinely believe that I want to leverage my 28 years of experience and climb the ladder together with this financial institution through AI development and other initiatives.

Marketing will be offered as one of the services at K Web Studio, but please understand that K Web Studio's main focus will be on web development (including API development for integration with AI, etc. - the foundational part) and AI development that will bring about significant efficiency improvements.

I have a sensibility that, even if I can learn about something, I can't truly "understand" it unless I experience it firsthand.

So, to sound more sophisticated, perhaps it would be Multinational FDE (Forward Deployed Engineer).

Please forgive us, readers, as we haven't officially opened yet.

I'm just a 50-year-old guy who loves English and computers 🤣.

Please allow me to call myself a Multinational FDE (Forward Deployed Engineer) 💦.
