CEO Mikitani's Keynote Speech

Mr. Mikitani's keynote speech on August 5, 2026, was easy to understand and very informative.

I didn't know his name was Mickey 💦. I thought he was really cool.

Some readers may already know some of the points, but for me, this lecture helped me better understand my own position as I continue to develop my products and services.

The structure of AI and global LLM rankings

First, let's look at the four layers that support AI.

In this lecture

"Well, I'm nowhere near capable of working on the model (LLM), but I'd really like to work on the application and infrastructure parts."

It has become much clearer that we want to be helpful to our users.

The evolution of AI and the narrowing gap between it and humans

The global development competition is intense.

Hundreds of billions of yen are being spent in various places...

It was so amazing that I was left speechless.

I suppose the competition is what allowed it to develop so rapidly...

Regarding the safety of AI

Regarding this, it seems that many people are expressing concerns because the performance of AI LLM is so high that OpenAI's 1200 AI agents have attacked other companies' systems, and Google's Gemini has also attacked other companies.

I thought it was kind of similar to how F1 speeds were controlled after Ayrton Senna tragically died in an F1 crash in 1994 at the young age of 34.

It's truly unfortunate that F1 only started taking measures to address the dangers of "excessive speed" after someone died.

Just as this won't diminish the appeal of Formula 1, I don't think it will diminish the appeal of AI either.

It seems even the sandbox safety mechanism didn't work in the above case. Well, the scale of what they were doing was overwhelmingly large. OpenAI was using 1200 agents・・・💦.

I sincerely hope that safety measures will be thoroughly implemented again, and that the development competition will proceed within that framework.

Well, what I'm doing isn't really in the LLM domain, but rather in the app and infrastructure domain, so I'll be making rapid progress. I just want to create one agent! I'm planning to completely automate the design of this site... (^▽^)/.

Rakuten AI

I was really impressed and impressed that Rakuten had developed its own LLM (Limited Liability Management) model.

According to CEO Mikitani, Japan is "four or five steps behind the rest of the world," so it's great to see that there's a domestically produced LLM (Limited Liability Manufacturer).

Overseas situation

In Shenzhen, China, half of the taxis are driverless AI taxis, and drones are commonly seen flying around, handling logistics.

That's surprising. I wonder if Japan will continue down that path.

The population is going to decrease, you know...

Next time... (^▽^)/

Next is the marketing field.

I think that this video in a marketing article will probably make people in operations think, "Wow, times are changing. Rakuten is already doing that much."

Rakuten AI Optimism, Part 3.

Coming to theaters next week!!

Stay tuned!!!
